Meet Human Marketing’s New Inbound Marketing Manager, Erin Doherty
A new year means new goals and resolutions to crush, and in this case, expanding our team at Human Marketing! Each time new talent joins our team, we’ll share their “Letter from a Human” with the digital world. We believe it’s your right to know who’s working on your project and their background. Meet Erin Doherty, Human Marketing’s new Inbound Marketing Manager.
Letter from a Human: Erin Doherty
I’ve always been a bookworm. It’s where my love for content started. I read constantly as a kid, staying up late reading underneath the covers with a flashlight. I always got in trouble in math class (my least favorite) for reading while my teacher was talking. As I write this, there’s a stack of books teetering on my bedside table and a hefty list of titles in my iPhone notes. In my world, the book is always better than the movie.
Whether it’s a great article, novel or blog post, I love the power and eloquence of the written word. I’m also a total nerd for the writing and editing process. I love the challenge of communicating complex concepts clearly and concisely, maneuvering and editing text until it flows together seamlessly.
My love for writing directly influenced my career path in marketing. I studied English and Communication at UC Santa Barbara (go Gauchos!) After graduation, I worked as a content writer for a marketing agency. Within a year, I became the Marketing Manager and grew our three-person team to a full-fledged inbound marketing department of ten, providing web design, SEO, social media, email and content marketing services to clients.
After four years, I moved to the nonprofit world, working in marketing at a local community hospital. I also started a freelance writing business, doing everything from editorial work and feature interviews to web copy and B2B marketing.
Like our Marketing Director Cherene (have you met her yet?!) I loved what I was doing, but I missed the fast-paced agency lifestyle. That’s when I found Human Marketing. Today I channel my love for reading and writing into creating original, fresh content for our clients and collaborating with our team to execute the latest marketing strategies.
I’ve worked at startups, small businesses, large corporations and nonprofits, but my favorite is working directly with businesses to help them grow. It’s challenging, exhilarating and an awesome ride to be on. I’m excited to continue that with Human Marketing.
